Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why?
Connie had a connection with Sasha from the very beginning. They've been a little bit of a goofy/idiotic duo since trainee days, often fooling around doing stupid things in the middle of training. They were similar with their attitudes towards the world, even if their backgrounds were different, and they seemed to share the same braincell most of the time.
After Sasha's death he says that it was like he lost his twin. It was a platonic soulmate like bond they shared and her death left a huge hole in his heart. Connie and Sasha both also bonded closely with Jean, Connie even saying that the two of them were special while hugging them.
2. What are they most afraid of and why?
Connie is scared of losing all of the people he cares about, after losing his whole family and village (they all were turned into titans and killed, except for his mother who is still alive as a titan). Even before that he lost several of his friends during the attack on Trost, which motivated him to join the Survey Corps: to prevent deaths of more people he cares about.
He faces this fear several times after (losing Sasha, Hange), and he even needed to shoot two of the friends he wanted to protect to protect others. While weighing heavily down on him, he's pushed on, for the sake of those who he still has.
He doesn't want to lose more people again and eventually be left all alone.
3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why?
Emotionally, Connie is known to withhold a lot of rage inside until it finally bursts out all at once. Whenever he gets angry it's a cold type of anger where he doesn't care about how people feel around him. Even under normal circumstances he can be "talks first, thinks later" type, sometimes saying offensive things without meaning to. His love for his friends/family can also be viewed as a weakness in that sometimes he's willing to do terrible things without thinking of consequences (like sacrifice someone to save his mom).
Mentally, Connie is dumb. While he is brilliant and can show a strategic mind, most of the time he's very idiotic and just doesn't get things. Someone said he's 'slow on the uptake but makes very sharp turns', which is pretty accurate.
Physically he's just a regular human. He's not quite as strong as other members of his team, not having built the same amount of muscle strength.
4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self (who they feel they are) and their outer self (how they present themselves to others)?
During his best moments, Connie looks cheerful and confident - like someone who can take on the whole world. This, however, is often a facade to make himself get through the tough times. More often than not, Connie hides his insecurities and doesn't think of himself as invicible as he paints himself to be. He also has a lot of trauma hiding behind his smiles. He himself is aware that he's a tragic, traumatic child soldier, but he doesn't wish to show that to outsiders.
5. What would make them happiest and why?
To be able to live a normal life with his friends and family, in a world without titans. To be with everyone, even those who betrayed them and live as friends like they did when they were trainees. Despite becoming a soldier and having the skills to fight, he's tired of the constant do or die situations and fighting. Seeing his family and friends happy means the world to him, especially after all of the pain he's seen them go through.
6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other?
Someone he can have a laugh with and not be so serious all of the time, but also someone who can take care of themselves when needed. Connie wants to love and cherish someone, not someone who needs to be constantly protected from harm. Someone who is patient would also be ideal, as sometimes Connie can be a bit slow on the uptake.
7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not?
Yes. When the subject of who should inherit Eren's titan (thus shortening their lifespan) came up he volunteered to take it, despite the thought of that scaring him. It would have ensured the others would have a long life, even if his wouldn't be.
He was also ready to sacrifice a kid (Falco) to turn his mother back into a human; in other words he was also ready to sacrifice his morals and humanity for the sake of someone he loves. He was only stopped by Armin almost sacrificing himself instead, snapping Connie out of it.
8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self if they had the chance, or if your character is young, what is one thing they would want their older self to remember?
He would tell his younger self to express how much he loves his family more often. To show him that he cares, even his words would sometimes fail to. And also that he will have many friends he will greatly cherish and that he should also show them these feelings, especially to a girl named Sasha.
9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze or fawn and how does that look?
Connie chooses to fight. After everything that happened back home he has no other choice in his mind than that. He's been trained to be a soldier and he has fought to save the world. Connie becomes completely serious, maybe even a little angry/feral looking debating on the situation. He will be completely focused on fighting and have emotions about it later, if needed. In worst case scenario he is even ready to shoot his former friends.
10. Why did your character make the wish they did?
Sasha is his twin, his lifetime platonic partner. Life isn't same without her and she deserves to be alive and experience new things, try new food, and to see a world without titans.
